7.7 – Magnitude Earthquake hits Myanmar, followed by powerful 6.4 Aftershock in Thailand!

International Disaster!! Back-to-Back Tragedy! Many Buildings Collapsed, 43 missing?? Death Toll Rising??

On March 28, 2025, a strong earthquake of 7.7 magnitude hit Myanmar. The epicenter of the Earthquake was 12km away from Sagaing city in Myanmar at 10 km depth. Causing major damage in Myanmar and visible damage in Thailand, tremors were also felt in different countries, including India, Bangladesh, Laos, and China.

              Within 12 minutes, the second earthquake – the Aftershock of 6.4 magnitude occurred. Causing severe damage in Thailand and Myanmar. The epicenter of this earthquake was 20 km away from Kyaukse city in Myanmar.

              The iconic Ava Bridge in Mandalay has collapsed into the Irrawaddy River.

A high-rise building collapsed in Chatuchak, Bangkok; two people were reportedly dead. A construction building collapsing visuals are wide spread on social media, where 43 workers were said to be present inside the construction building during the collapse.

Rooftop swimming pool water was terrifically poured out of the pool, falling onto the land, creating a disaster falls.

The before and after images of the famous Mahamuni Buddha Temple located in Mandalay, Myanmar, show the effect of the earthquake impacted the city.

As a result, Thailand’s stock exchange suspended trading after post-earthquake, and rail and metro services were shut. Many were said to be trapped and the death toll increasing fast.

India’s Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, offers assistance after the tragedy earthquakes happened. In his tweet he wrote “Concerned by the situation in the wake of the Earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. Praying for the safety and wellbeing of everyone. India stands ready to offer all possible assistance. In this regard, asked our authorities to be on standby. Also asked the MEA to remain in touch with the Governments of Myanmar and Thailand.”

Several countries and organizations have also opened their hands to assist Myanmar, including the EU, the UK, Australia, the Unites States and India, to provide food, shelter, healthcare and rescue.
